The Caversham, north-west of Reading, is an ambitious and exciting new project. The old Caversham Heath course has been redesigned to form a fantastic parkland layout that fairs well in all weathers thanks to its excellent drainage and USGA-standard design. The clubhouse is due for refurbishment in late 2021/22.

Canadian designer, Tom McBroom, set about his remodelling of what was Caversham Heath GC with the intention of making it more playable, giving it greater variety and making it less of a slog for the members. The championship layout can now measure anywhere between 5,536 and 7,319 yards depending on your choice of tees. His rerouting also removed many of the green-to-tee walks, cutting playing time by as much as 20 minutes. Work is still to be done on the clubhouse (scheduled for completion July 2022) but the course itself is already in fine shape.
